Assessing personal protective equipment compliance in a polish healthcare setting during the COVID-19 pandemic – A pilot case study

Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify failures in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage a healthcare hospital environment enhance PPE compliance through donning and doffing procedures.Methods: We used naturalistic observation (shadowing) by medical staff their work setting non-conformities compliant PPE.Results: found an average 1.84 non-conformances per worker across the procedures 2.06 provider. Nurses experienced 1.94 procedures, while physicians 1.75 non-conformances. 2.29 nonconformances, averaged 1.85 during study. critical protect both workers patients setting, as well building culture safety.Research implications: Appropriate training should be performed ensure appropriate protocols are adhered to, so that it reduces transmission disease infections. Future studies will explore environmental, cultural operational factors contribute healthcare.Conclusions: This first quantify errors personal protective within realm environmental impacts.
